Learning Through Play

At Little Explorers Forest school we focus on the individual child’s learning styles and current interests, from developing these we offer children experiences that maximises their development. Throughout the setting we follow the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and its 4 themes. A unique child, positive relationships, positive environments and learning and development, these are all reinforced through the experiences that are on offer.

To encourage children’s independence skills and allow them to confidently master tasks, we must first provide opportunities to enable children to explore and develop their enthusiasm for learning through play. We achieve this by building on the growing independence skills that the children have previously acquired giving them lots of choice in activities and equipment. The types of activities we provide are:

Painting and creative opportunities

  • Role Play
  • Construction
  • Music and movement
  • Sand and water play
  • Games , puzzles and sensory activities
  • Small world / imaginative
  • Books, singing and rhymes
  • Forest school and outdoor experiences
